The Great Resignation

Man walking away from room

For more than a year, experts have been predicting a mass exodus of employees.

As resignations are rising, understanding the trends can help you to learn how at risk your business is. 🧨

The following are some risk factors:

  • INDUSTRY
While Finance and Manufacturing resignation rates are holding steady, Healthcare and High Tech are driving the upward trend.

  • STAGE OF CAREER
All except the 20-25 age group experienced an increase in resignations during this time, but resignations are occurring most amongst mid-career workers (between 30 and 45 years old). This is particularly startling because turnover is typically highest in younger employees. But over the last year, resignations have actually decreased in the 20-25 age group.

IF YOU'RE AT RISK

Start by understanding the problem. If you're not tracking employee turnover you should be. Use this simple equation.

Number of Separations per Year ÷ Average Number of Employee = Turnover Rate

Finally, compare this number to your industry's average.
